Fresh off the press! Dulux have just announced their Colour of the Year 2021 and it couldn’t be more aptly named or beautiful! Taking inspiration from our need to feel safe and content during these turbulent COVID-19 times, ‘Brave Ground’ provides a sense of nurturing and comfort with its warm earthy tones. It will no doubt be hailed by many interior enthusiasts for its muted yet deep hue that will complement many other coveted colours.

Dulux Colour Experts said that they chose Brave Ground as colour of the year for its connection to nature and the simple things, with the colours tone bringing a welcoming sense of balance and support to any space. Warm and neutral shades have always been a much loved and used colour palette in the interior community for their timeless and adaptable traits but especially within the past year, so it’s great the see Dulux memorialise this! If you love this colour as much I do, lets a take a look at the different ways you could incorporate it into your interiors, whether it’s through redecoration or the occasional Brave Ground inspired object.

Thanks to its versatile hue, Brave Ground can act as a primary or secondary colour meaning that you’ll be able to incorporate at whatever level of intensity you desire. Many high street shops have already started forecast this colour trend in their autumn/winter collections, so there are plenty of home accessories you can purchase to incorporate this beautiful earthy tone into your home, with a few of the best mentioned below.

PAINT YOUR FRONT DOOR IN BRAVE GROUND FOR A WELCOMING ENTRANCE

I can see Brave Ground is becoming the new French Gray for exterior woodwork, to the extent that I’ve even photoshopped my neighbours front door below to see what it would look like (my architecture degrees are finally coming in handy!) and I think it looks great! With its warm and welcoming tone, it is a great way to smarten up your front door and ensure that you or a guests arrival is a special one. Brave Ground seemingly matches to both warm and cold hues including black, so I think we’ll be seeing plenty of front doors painted in this in the near future!

If you would prefer to keep this shade indoors only, why not freshen up a storage cabinet, your dining chairs or kitchen cupboards instead with this transformative colour? Francesca @iknownothingaboutinteriors used a similar shade to Brave Ground on her cabinet recently and the finish is absolutely beautiful, plus its the perfect way to incorporate a seasonal atmosphere into your home with its autumnal feel.
